"We are currently working on the technical preparations and model development, after which the start of serial production is expected," Savo Mitrovic, director of Luss Textile, said in a statement issued by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
After a meeting with designer Philipp Plein last month, Mitrovic said Luss Textile aims to increase its workforce by 200 at its factory in southwestern Serbia.
"Luss Textile has many interesting opportunities to become a supplier for our brand. We produce about a million pieces of clothing a year. We work mainly in Europe and Asia but for us, Europe is becoming more and more important due to the proximity of our central warehouse. The possibilities of this factory are great," Plein had said after the last month's meeting.
The Serbian company opened its Draganici factory in January 2019 and is manufacturing products for the Replay brand. It sells about 90 per cent of its products in Europe and has 300 employees, according to a report in a domestic media outlet.
