Sourcing at Magic, a global supply chain fashion event, which will be held from August 12 to 15, 2018, in Las Vegas, US, is set to focus on sustainability in fashion. The show will mainly emphasise on helping the fashion industry reduce its impact on the environment with new design opportunities that meet market demand for sustainable fabric and fibres.

Innovative leaders of the sustainable fashion movement will participate in the event. As one of the largest cotton-based mills in the world, Jiangsu Lianfa is vertically integrated with their own cotton fields in North-western China, spinning, dyeing, weaving, and finishing through to cut and sew.

Jeanologia, the innovative and multicultural company has more than 20 years of experience focusing on the development of sustainable and eco-efficient technologies for the fabric and garment finishing industry. Today, Jeanologia leads the transformation of the textile industry with disruptive technologies: laser, ozone and e-flow technologies which are capable to enhance productivity, reduce water and energy consumption and eliminate damaging emissions and waste, guaranteeing zero contamination.

Velocity, a high-volume denim producer with factories in Egypt and Ethiopia, uses Jeanologia laser machines to finish denim with a waterless system. They also use the newest Ozone technology from Tonello to wash the denim with a fraction of the water used in the traditional technology. Other sustainable practices include waterless washing, sublimation fabric printing and laser-blast technology.

Grupo Vivatex, a very large vertical knit factory in Mexico, have a large recycling water treatment plant. They also have invested in new technology to have waterless and highly reduced water usage. Their “Dry” is basically composed of German art machinery, which uses a very low amount of water for their processes so that contamination of this element is very low.

In addition to connecting brands and retailers to the global leaders in environmentally friendly production, Sourcing at Magic will educate attendees on new production capabilities that decrease pollution.

Morphew’s in-house atelier will showcase a live demonstration on recycling vintage pieces. He will demonstrate how to dissect a garment and repurpose it with a few (easy) manipulations while having his atelier sew onsite. Attendees will learn how to duplicate these techniques and scour a thrift store for the best finds. (GK)
