PurFi aims to process 25,000 tonnes textile waste by 2021

US-based PurFi uses patented and proprietary processes to convert textile by-products into fibres and fabrics. It will process around 3,000 tonnes of waste in 2020 and by 2021, it expects to elevate that to nearly 25,000 tonnes, according to chief executive officer Joy Nunn, who said any type of fibre—nylon, polyester, cotton, rayon and silk—can be processed.
There are over 60 billion pounds of post-industrial textile by-product being relegated to landfills or incinerated annually, along with 250 billion pounds of post-consumer waste experiencing the same, Nunn told Fibre2Fashion in an interview.
