India’s Uttar Pradesh (UP) state recently decided to develop a ‘flatted’ factory space in Greater Noida with an estimated expenditure of ₹1.25 billion ($14.6 million) to boost micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The factory space will be developed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) in Sector 28 of Greater Noida.

The initial survey and preparations of the master plan are under way, according to media reports from the state. The target is to get the project ready within two years.

The idea is to offer state-of-the-art infrastructure to MSME units in a shared complex, which would reduce their cost of production and other input costs as well.

The ‘flatted’ factory will have multiple storeys: a basement, a ground floor, and three floors that will all cover an area of over 38,665 square metres.

Next to the main multi-storied building, the state government will also develop a complex for future needs.
