Avery Dennison acquires Smartrac's RFID Transponder

Avery Dennison Corporation, a global materials science company, has announced the acquisition of Smartrac's Transponder business, for the purchase price of €225 million, subject to customary adjustments. Smartrac is a leading innovator in the manufacturing of RFID (radio-frequency identification) inlays and has strong research and development capabilities.
Smartrac also has a proven track record for developing and commercialising effective, high-value and high-quality RFID products. Smartrac is now an Avery Dennison company.
Avery Dennison Corporation specializes in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of labeling and functional materials. The company's products include pressure-sensitive materials for labels and graphic applications; tapes and other bonding solutions for industrial, medical and retail applications; tags, labels and embellishments for apparel; and RFID solutions serving retail apparel and other markets.
