Exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS Chapter 61) decreased by 4.5 per cent, reaching $5,695.166 million, compared to $5,965.294 million in January-July 2023. Non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS Chapter 62) saw an 11.0 per cent drop, falling to $4,429.736 million from $4,977.878 million during the same period last year, as per the trade report of the top twenty chapters.
In July 2024, Turkiye’s garment exports increased by 9.12 per cent to $1,590.893 million. Exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories rose by 11.6 per cent to $933.273 million, up from $836.197 million in July 2023. Non-knitted apparel and accessories also grew by 5.8 per cent, from $621.628 million in July 2023 to $657.620 million in July 2024.
Turkiye's imports of cotton, cotton yarn, and cotton textiles (HS Chapter 52) fell by 13.2 per cent to $1,614.439 million in January-July 2024, down from $1,859.103 million in the same period last year. In July 2024, these imports decreased by 7.9 per cent to $255.735 million, compared to $277.793 million in July 2023. This is the only textile product among Turkiye's top 20 imports for July 2024.
In 2023, Turkiye’s apparel exports declined by 5.86 per cent to $18.321 billion from $19.463 billion in 2022, following $18.294 billion in 2021.
