India’s export of jute products, including floor covering, increased by 21.92 per cent to $41.72 million in June 2022, compared to exports of $34.22 million in June 2021, according to a release of the ministry of commerce and industry, Government of India. There is better demand for jute products in both local and global markets after COVID-19.

According to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro, raw jute (TD-5) was traded at ₹6,200 per quintal in local market on Monday. The prices reduced drastically below ₹4,000 per quintal during COVID period. But the prices touched a high of ₹8,100 per quintal in June 2021 when there was a spur in demand due to recovery in economic activities. But currently, the prices are maintaining average levels which supported better export amid good demand.
