Mumbai-based Textiles Committee, a statutory body under the ministry of textiles, will now test and certify body coveralls required for healthcare workers and other COVID-19 warriors. The committee is the ninth approved laboratory to test and certify body coveralls, the ministry announced recently.

The Textiles Committee team took almost 45 days to conceptualise and design the machine in-house and produced the vital equipment.

The National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (NABL) has audited the lab facility and has approved it under three test standards, according to an official release.

The eight other labs for testing personal protective equipment are the South India Textiles Research Association (SITRA), Coimbatore; DRDO-INMAS, New Delhi; the Heavy Vehicle Factory, Avadi, Chennai; the Small Arms Factory, Kanpur; Ordnance Factory, Kanpur; Ordnance Factory, Muradnagar; Ordnance Factory, Ambernath, Maharashtra; and the Metal & Steel Factory, Ishapore, West Bengal.
