Repsol is investing €2.5 million (~$2.84 million) in its specialty plant in Palencia for a new paraffin pearl manufacturing line. The multi-energy company continues its commitment to the industry in Spain through investments that drive innovation, sustainability, and economic development.

This investment in the Palencia facility increases the plant's production capacity by 33% and contributes to direct job creation in the city, with the addition of new jobs. The products manufactured at this factory are essential for supplying the value chains of various sectors, including candles, tires, boards, and construction.

The event held this morning at the factory was attended by the Mayor of Palencia, Raquel Miriam Andrés Prieto; the President of the Palencia Provincial Council, María Ángeles Armisén Pedrejón; the Director General of Industry for the Government of Castilla y León, Mariano Muñoz Fernández; the Regional Delegate in Palencia, José Antonio Rubio Mielgo; the Councilor for Economic Development of Palencia, Judith Castro; the Director of Lubricants, Aviation, Asphalts and Specialties at Repsol, Sebastián Mussini; the Director of Operations and SMA Clients at Repsol, Rafael Jiménez; and the Manager of the Palencia factory, Francisco Gonzalez Nieto.

The Mayor of Palencia, Miriam Andrés, congratulated Repsol on behalf of the entire city for seeing how, after four decades of work, the Palencia factory "expands and diversifies its production, generating direct and indirect jobs and boosting the local economy." In this regard, the Palencia councilor expressed her satisfaction at participating as mayor in an event of this nature, where a new investment is being presented that guarantees "employment and wealth in the present and future."

For her part, the President of the Palencia Provincial Council, María Ángeles Armisén Pedrejón, expressed her gratitude to Repsol for its commitment to Palencia. “Betting on Palencia isn't just about investing in a geographical location; it's about investing in the talent of our people, the quality of life we ??offer, and a province that looks to the future with ambition and confidence. She added that she knows that socioeconomic development is only possible if the public and private sectors work hand in hand.”

In his speech, the Director General of Industry of the Government of Castile and León, Mariano Muñoz Fernández, highlighted Repsol's historically important contribution to the creation of wealth and employment in our region, which is reinforced by the new manufacturing line featured in this event, as well as the company's current commitment to renewable energy and sustainable mobility. He also highlighted the support of the Regional Government of Castile and León to our industry, not only for established projects but also for promoting new activities and new entrepreneurs, through the multiple and diverse lines of subsidies and financing, both from the Institute for Business Competitiveness and through bodies dependent on the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Employment, such as the ECYL (Economic and Industrial Development Council) and the General Directorate of Industry.

Finally, Sebastián Mussini, Director of Lubricants, Aviation, Asphalts, and Specialties at Repsol, emphasized, "We are proud to inaugurate this new production line, which represents an important step in the modernization and expansion of our specialty factory. This investment not only reinforces our commitment to quality and innovation, but also contributes to the economic and social development of Palencia and its surrounding area. With this new line, we hope to continue offering high-quality products and create new employment opportunities for the community."

The Palencia factory, built in 1942, has been a long-established industrial asset in the city. Throughout its history, its operations have ranged from the manufacture of vitamins to the current production of paraffin pearls for the automotive industry and emulsions for dashboards and construction. Repsol acquired the plant in 1987 and, since then, has been dedicated to the valorization of petroleum derivatives and specialties, including the manufacture of emulsions, pearls, and other paraffins.

In recent years, the multi-energy company has made significant investments in the factory, such as the installation of solar panels and boilers, significantly improving the plant's energy efficiency. The factory also has its own laboratory, where a team of specialists analyzes both raw materials and finished products, ensuring the highest quality in all its products. Currently, the plant employs more than 30 qualified professionals.

Repsol has a significant presence in Castile and León. The multi-energy company has a network of 311 service stations, 42 of which offer 100% renewable Nexa Diesel, and expects to end the year with 78 stations offering this fuel. It also has more than 130 electric charging stations, more than 30 AutoGas supply points, and 12 butane distribution agencies throughout the region.

In Palencia, in addition to the specialty factory, Repsol has 28 service stations, 3 of which offer 100% renewable fuel, 9 electric charging stations, 2 AutoGas supply points, and a butane distribution agency.

In addition, the multi-energy company has 260 MW of renewable electricity already being supplied in Castile and León. Specifically, in 2024, two photovoltaic plants totaling 100 MW were energized in Palencia, and another 140 MW of wind power, also in this province, will be added to the 20 MW of the PI project, which is operational in Valladolid.
