Shanghai fashion design competition kicks off

To explore the innovative design potential of design talents by focusing on contemporary cutting-edge designers, “Modern Shanghai - Shanghai International Body Fashion Design Competition Body Fashion Award” officially kicked off this month. Fashion design agencies, teachers and students specialised in design, design enthusiasts can participate in the event.
Under the guidance of Shanghai Textile Association, the competition is being organised by Shanghai Aige Exhibition Service Co., Ltd., and undertaken by FIISC Fashion Industry Innovation Service Center. It is one of the high-level major events in the industry supported by Shanghai Garment Design Association.
The event has two sections, namely, the preliminary competition and finals which will be held at the site of “Shanghai International Hosiery Purchase Expo CHPE” and “Shanghai International Lifestyle Fashion Show” renowned in Asia and beyond.
The competition has two design groups: socks design and underwear design. Participants in socks design group need to design two works for each of the two topics—sports fashion (cotton socks) and trendy products in the next season (silk stockings). Similarly, participants in the underwear design group will submit works on girls’ purity (cotton) and women’s temptation (silk). The deadline for submission is November 1, 2019. The final will be held on March 3, 2020, at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Hall.
Under the theme of “charm of body products”, the competition emphasises that art has no borders, encouraging participants to break through existing boundaries, interpret the charm of socks and underwear with infinite design space, organically combine “utility” with “artisticity” and make full use of imagination based on life. New technologies, trends and crafts can be used creatively to display the trend of underwear and socks.
The competition is expected to improve the innovative design level of the apparel industry, inject new impetus into body fashion products, and take a lead in making fashionable, market-oriented and high-end fashion products. Besides, the competition will introduce the industrial resource docking and business incubation mechanism, so as to effectively help the finalists commercialise their designs and truly realise the commercial value.
