Thai Acrylic Fibre Co Ltd (TAF), from Aditya Birla Group, and Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd, Nepal, jointly displayed a range of products with Radianza in the recently concluded Intertextile in Shanghai. Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd., Nepal, a joint venture of Golyan and Maliram Shivkumar (MS) Group, is a high-tech spinning plant producing various yarns.

Reliance Spinning Mills, Nepal produces polyester/viscose blended yarn, 100% acrylic yarn, polyester/acrylic blended yarn, 100% polyester spun yarn, specialty yarn, slub yarns and industrial yarns.

“This year in Intertextile, our focus was to take Radianza outside the traditional application of flat knits. We had products ranging from t-shirts, innerwear, fleece, socks as well as trousers and other woven applications. This year in Intertextile, there was an overall emphasis on eco-friendly products and almost every company displayed innovations related to sustainability. We are glad the response to Radianza now available in all these applications was very encouraging,” said Satyaki Ghosh, CEO-Domestic Textiles and Acrylic fibre business, TAF.

“We had developed a new range of yarns with Radianza for flat knit and circular knit applications and it is very pleasing to know that we had a lot of enquiries and interest from our existing and new customers. Over the course of next few weeks, we will develop more products and concept fabrics based on the feedback we received from the customers,” said Akshay Golyan, director of Reliance Spinning Mills.

Radianza is a specialty ready-to-use dyed fibre manufactured using gel dyeing technology, which enables the dyeing process to happen with limited use of water, energy, chemicals and highly efficient consumption of dyestuff, due to which very insignificant amount of unused dye gets discharged into the effluent. TAF has been promoting the product as a dyed fibre available in many shades and able to develop new colours as per customers' requirements. However, the benefits of Radianza fibre to the environment got evident once TAF conducted an independent third party “Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)” study of Radianza fibre starting from polymerisation to garment disposal. The results were significantly better than other fibres and when compared to conventional dyeing the usage of Radianza fibre showed 20 times less Global Warming Potential, 7 times less Blue Water consumption and similar results in the 8 other parameters related to environment impact.

“Our association with Reliance Spinning Mills has become even stronger during this show. Our teams met some customers together and based on the feedback we will jointly develop more products in the coming few weeks. As a strategic partner, we will support Reliance in as many innovative developments as possible and Radianza is just as start,” added Ghosh.
