ATDC launches digital contents for SMART Sewing Machine

July 21, 2012 - India

With an aim to make the delivery of courses standardised at its training centres across the country, the Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC) has launched the first module of ‘Digital Contents’ for 'SMART Sewing Machine Operator' as blended learning support at the Tex Trends India-2012, in AEPC-ATDC Stall on 16th July.

Union Minister for Commerce, Industry & Textiles Shri Anand Sharma in presence of Smt. Kiran Dhingra, Secretary (Textiles), Shri V Srinivas, JS (Exports) and Dr. A. Shaktivel, Chairman, Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), inaugurated and released the module at the AEPC-ATDC stall during 'Tex Trends 2012' — a fair organised for the apparel & accessories, fabrics, home furnishings, Indian handicrafts, wool and woollen products, jute and carpets organised by Ministry of Textiles at Pragati Maidan in the Capital from July 16-18.

Besides standardisation of training delivery, the Digital Contents would help the trainees to assimilate the training more effectively, said Dr. Dr. Darlie O. Koshy, Director-General & CEO of Institute of Apparel Management (IAM) & ATDC, at the launch. Dr. Darlie Koshy explained the significance that ‘repetitive course modules’ have a probability of not being delivered consistently across the country by trainers and this would help in avoiding it apart from helping the candidate to understand the finer points better. The Digital Contents allow the trainee to review as many times as required and the vernacular ‘voice over’ help in absorbing the contents more effectively.

Digital content encompasses segments such as composition, graphics, audio editing, etc. The ATDC digital content can also be used through Very Small Aperture Terminal (V-SAT) technology.
