The 38-year-old’s designs for the event included an ivory hand-embroidered tulle dress with a plunging neckline for the American film and television actress Rooney Mara.

Curvy diva Beyoncé also turned up at the soiree in a resplendent Tisci outfit, featuring a python corset and long skirt with a fiery orange motif and cutout train.

An alumnus of London's Central Saint Martins Academy, Riccardo Tisci has been helming the internationally-renowned French fashion house Givenchy since 2005.

Met Gala, also known as Costume Institute Ball, is hosted annually by the internationally famous fashion magazine Vogue.
