Voonik acqui-hires Getsty, ventures into men’s fashion

February 27, 2016 - India

Voonik, a leading personalised fashion marketplace, has acqui-hires Getsty, a start-up creating personal shopping experience for men through stylists, according to media reports.

Voonik plans to introduce an app catering to men’s fashion after the deal, the reports said.

Getsty works on a model wherein it requires customers to create a profile by answering a few questions and based on which personal stylists send about 8-10 clothes suitable for them.  Customers can keep what they like and return what the remaining clothes. With this move, Voonik plans to expand its current customer base, its supplier network, and venture into recommendation engine to pace up its own men’s offering.

Sujayath Ali, CEO and Co-founder, Voonik, said, “Our customers have consistently demanded a men’s range on Voonik, so that the men in their families could also have as much fun shopping as they do. With this huge demand already in place and the lack of good fashion apps for men, I feel there is a large untapped market for this product.”

Voonik acqui-hired a mobile platform providing the experience of virtual dressing room to customers, TrialKart, in 2015 to enhance its image reading and learning capacities. Last year in June, Voonik raised Rs 32 crore from Seedfund and Sequoia Capital. (HO)
