Ekansh Trust in Pune promotes apparel designs for disabled

September 04, 2019 - India

Pune-based charitable organisation Ekansh Trust last month conducted the finale of the AD-DRESS NOW contest to offer scope to design clothes for people with disability. Fifty teams participated in the adaptive clothing design contest and 15 were shortlisted for the finale. It was similar to the ‘Accessible Architecture Design’ contests held by the trust earlier.

Designers Nivedita Saboo, Raju Bhatia and Geeta Castelino are on the trust’s team of advisors.

Nivedita Saboo has already offered to take this to the next level by further opening this concept up in Mumbai by involving leading personalities from the media, garment industry and institutes.

Raju Bhatia and Geeta Castelino have begun influencing college heads too. Many institutes have already agreed to look at it more holistically. Rohit Kamra is also keen on promoting adaptive design, according to a press release from the organisers. (DS)
