Littlewoods Shop to sponsor ASBCI Student Design Award

The UK’s leading online and home shopping retailer, Littlewoods Shop Direct Group, is to sponsor the prestigious ASBCI Student Design Award 2008. Over 150 design students from fashion colleges nationwide responded to the award’s design brief to create a ‘feminine and fabulous special occasion wear collection’ for Littlewoods’ ‘Designers’ Collection’.
From the original story-board submissions 12 students have been invited to make up two selected outfits from their six-piece collections for the glittering catwalk finals to be held at the ASBCI Industry Dinner, Tuesday 20th May, 7.00pm at Dunchurch Park Hotel, Dunchurch, Rugby. David Inglis, group trading director with Littlewoods Shop Direct Group will announce the winners and present the first prize of £1000, with second and third place prizes of £750 and £500 respectively.
There will be an additional prize of £500 for the best overall college performance. It is the first time in the awards 14-year history that the finals have been held at the ASBCI Industry Dinner, the finalè event to the association’s high profile day-conference. The cost of the dinner is £45 per person inclusive of VAT.
Each short listed student will show two complete outfits at the spectacular catwalk finals which will also feature some of the latest party, evening dress, wedding and race-day designs from Littlewoods Shop Direct’s established ‘Designers’ Collection’ featuring such designer names as Amanda Wakeley and Ann-Louise Roswald. Each student design has to be developed from an initial sketch into a fully accessorised development sample and must satisfy target price points of £69-£120 for dresses, £49-£89 for jackets and £39-£59 for trousers, skirts, blouses and bustiers.
