ATNT-2008 to be held in Manchester of South India

An international conference on Advances in Textiles, Machinery, Nonwoven and Technical Textiles ATNT-2008, will be held in Coimbatore city, popularly known as Manchester of South India from July 14-16, 2008.

It is jointly organized by Department of Textiles and Clothing, Avinashilingam University for Women, Coimbatore, India and The Institute of Environmental and Human Health, Texas Tech University, USA.

The main theme of the conference is emerging and cutting-edge advancements in the frontier areas of Textiles, Machinery, Nonwoven and Technical Textiles. A special feature of the conference is its emphasis on the entire value-chain of textiles, from fiber to fashion fabric, and apparel fabric to technical textiles.

India is emerging as a textile and manufacturing powerhouse with enormous growth opportunities. With the burgeoning middle-class population over 300 million; there will be an explosion of textile material usage in all sorts of applications, providing a huge market for global textile players.

India is a preferred place for multinationals to venture into a myriad of business opportunities including nonwoven, medical, technical textiles and apparels.

The timing and venue of the conference are ideal for global players in academia and industry to assemble in India for the fifth time since 2004. India is rising in nonwoven and technical textiles with several supportive initiatives for the industry and research organizations to venture into technical textiles.

The Prime Minister of India has launched National Technology Mission on Technical Textiles to promote research and development and the growth of the nascent technical textiles industry in India. International academia and industry have opportunities in India for research and business collaborations.
