TITAS - for the upper stream functional textiles
July 01, 2009 - Taiwan
Despite the global economic slump, TITAS 2009 continues with full force. Moreover, the organizers promise an even more impressive exhibition, characterized by the latest developments of Taiwan’s functional textiles, which will make the trip to the Show worthwhile.
In this year’s TITAS, for the upper stream functional textiles, the focus will be on multifunctional fibers and yarns.
Representative products include Cooling Effect Yarn from Formosa Chemicals, featuring cooling and moisture transferring effects and suitable for stockings and jeans; mineral microfiber, also from Formosa Chemicals, containing more than 20 minerals featuring thermal heating, photocatalytic UV protective and negative ions generating, and suitable for down and pocketed jackets; multifunctional yarns from Nan-Ya Plastics, featuring stain release, anti-static and moisture-absorbing; and DreamFel®, an eco-friendly, high performance polypropylene microfiber from Tri-Ocean Textile.
In addition, Formosa Taffeta, the leading manufacturer of functional fabrics in Taiwan, will put the spotlight on fabrics applying coldblack finishing technology licensed by Schoeller Switzerland. Coldblack finishing can reduce the absorption of heat, particularly in dark-colored fabrics and provide protection
from UV rays, making fabrics especially suitable for outdoor and athletic wear. Another focus product from Formosa Taffeta is M2PTEXe, an electro-magnetic interference shielding conductive fabrics line that is well recognized by major international notebook and cell phone brands.
Other equally interesting functional textiles to be shown at TITAS 2009 include Haojey’s TEXCARE series, a fiber family with health-care function, Asiatic Fiber’s dust-free, anti-static and health-care textiles, as well as Green Lab’s silver and germanium
implanted textiles. In view of the availability of a host of functional textiles, Taiwan Textile Federation has foreseen the importance of a highly credible certification system and launched the TFT(Taiwan Functional Textiles)labeling system as a quality assurance for buyers and consumers.
Currently the system provides certification services for 17 categories of functional textiles, of which 3 are newly added, namely Charcoal Contained Filler Fiber Textiles for Warmth Retention, Deodorization for Charcoal Contained Filler Textiles and Deodorized Textiles. There will also be a detailed presentation for TFT services at TITAS 2009.
TITAS 2009 will be held from October 14 to 16 at Hall 1, Taipei World Trade Center.
