South Indian cotton yarn holds steady amid cautious demand

South India's cotton yarn market remained largely stable, with cautious mill buying and moderate downstream demand. Mumbai reported weak fabric offtake and labour shortages, keeping yarn prices steady. Tiruppur witnessed average demand, supported by firmer ICE cotton trends. In Gujarat, limited mill buying and ample CCI stocks capped price movement. All-India arrivals were steady.

In the Mumbai market, cotton yarn prices were quoted at previous levels. Spinning mills and traders expressed concern over slow demand. A Mumbai-based trader told Fibre*Fashion, “Slow lifting of fabric is discouraging for the cotton yarn market. Power looms are running at almost half capacity as they do not expect strong demand from the downstream industry. Labour shortages have also forced them to keep production at a lower level.”

In Mumbai, ** carded yarn of warp and weft varieties were traded at &#****;*,***-*,*** (~$**.**-**.**) and &#****;*,***-*,*** (~$**.**-**.**) per * kg (excluding GST), respectively.
