Amazon will invest $1 billion in India on digitising small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and export $10 billion worth ‘Make in India’ products by 2025, founder and chief executive officer Jeff Bezos told the inaugural session of Smbhav event in New Delhi today. Amazon Smbhav summit brings micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under one roof.

Over a million artisans, weavers and women entrepreneurs are already part of Amazon India and the company is now going to get 10 million more SMEs digitised by 2025 and export their products as well, according to Indian media reports.

Bezos predicted that the 21st century is going to be the Indian century and the most important alliance will be between India and the United States.

Bezos' visit to India comes amid strident criticism from small business owners who accuse the company and Walmart's Flipkart of unfair business practices. Both the companies deny the allegations.
