The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) recently said it will launch a series of protests against Amazon, Flipkart and other e-commerce firms beginning November 13 for their continuous violation of the foreign direct investment (FDI) policy. Trade leaders from 27 states gathered in New Delhi at the National Traders Conference held by CAIT recently.

CAIT secretary general Praveen Khandelwal said the frontal war against Amazon and Flipkart will continue till January 10.

A ‘National Protest Day’ will be observed on November 20 and demonstrations will be organised in more than 500 cities. About five lakh traders are expected to take part in such protest, a news agency cited CAIT as saying.

Khandelwal said the conference chalked out a road map for its nationwide agitation and November 13 will be observed as ‘National Awareness Campaign Day’, when traders’ delegations across the country will submit an exhaustive memorandum to all members of parliament, urging them to raise the issue.

The first phase of the nationwide agitation will conclude with a three-day National Traders Convention from 6 to 8 January in New Delhi that will be attended by leaders of about 20,000 trade associations.
