Retail trade volumes in the euro area and the EU have increased by 0.2 per cent in November 2025 compared with October 2025, according to first estimates from Eurostat. In October 2025, retail volumes had risen by 0.3 per cent in the euro area and 0.2 per cent in the EU.
On an annual basis, calendar-adjusted retail sales volumes were up 2.3 per cent in both the euro area and the EU compared with November 2024.
In November 2025, non-food products excluding automotive fuel recorded the strongest momentum, with volumes rising by 0.4 per cent in both the euro area and the EU.
Among member states, the highest monthly increases were seen in Luxembourg (up 5.8 per cent), Portugal (up 2.2 per cent) and Denmark (up 1.9 per cent). The steepest declines were reported in Croatia (down 2.2 per cent), Belgium (down 1.6 per cent) and Slovakia (down 1.5 per cent, Eurostat said in a release.
Year on year, non-food retail trade volumes grew by 3.5 per cent in the euro area and 3.6 per cent in the EU. Cyprus (up 8.5 per cent), Portugal (up 6.5 per cent) and Denmark (up 6.2 per cent) posted the strongest annual gains, while Romania (down 4.6 per cent), Slovakia (down 2.8 per cent), Austria (down 2.2 per cent) and Luxembourg (down 0.1 per cent) recorded contractions.
