Footwear retailer Bata India Limited has reported decline in its total income to ₹604.3 crore in its fourth quarter (Q4) of fiscal 2021 that ended on March 31, 2021, compared to the income of ₹637.6 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal. The company’s profit for the period dropped to ₹29.5 crore (Q4 FY20: ₹38.4 crore).
“The Q4 results are satisfactory for us, considering Q3 sales have historically been always better because of festive season. We continued our march towards recovery via our channel expansion efforts via franchising, distribution and marketplaces routes. As the economy gained pace and offices started re-opening, we rolled out our first campaign of the year showcasing ‘Relaxed Workwear’ collection offering the best of comfort technologies across Bata, Hush Puppies, Bata Red Label, Comfit and Naturalizer brands,” Sandeep Kataria, CEO at Bata Brands, said in a press release.
The company’s total expenses for Q4 FY21 fell to ₹563.9 crore (₹579.4 crore), while profit before tax was ₹40.3 crore (₹58.1 crore).
“With omni-channel customer generating more revenue than a single-channel customer, we scaled up our tech-related solutions and investments to engage and offer better experiences and driving up cross-channel purchases, customer service and retention. With the surge in Covid cases in wave 2, we refocused to make essentials and fitness sneakers available to our customers, as consumers stayed back in their homes,” Kataria added.
“I am confident that the collective resilience across the country will see the nation through this trying phase also and would like to urge everyone to register for vaccination as it is our strongest shield against the virus,” Kataria concluded in the release.
