Jeff Bezos drops to #2 in Bloomberg Billionaires Index

Amazon.com Inc’s chief Jeff Bezos dropped to the second position in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index this year after Microsoft Corp co-founder Bill Gates overtook him as the world’s richest person. Reports say Pentagon’s decision last month to award a $10-billion cloud-computing contract to Microsoft instead of Amazon may have played some role in this.
Amazon’s stock is down about 2 per cent since the announcement, putting Bezos’ net worth at $108.7 billion.
Europe’s richest person, Bernard Arnault, is third with $102.7 billion. As of November 16, Gates has a net worth of $110 billion.
Bezos' net worth has taken two hits in recent months, as he lost billions following Amazon's underperformance in the third quarter and several billions more to his former wife Mackenzie Bezos.
