Netherlands' clothing retail sales rise by 3.8% in March 2025

In March 2025, retail clothing turnover in the Netherlands rose by 3.8 per cent year-on-year, while shoe and leather goods sales jumped 10.6 per cent, according to CBS.
Overall retail turnover grew 3.4 per cent, with a 1.0 per cent rise in sales volume.
Online retail rose 7.0 per cent, led by a 9.8 per cent gain for online-only retailers.

Retail clothing turnover in the Netherlands rose by 3.8 per cent year-on-year in March 2025, while shops selling shoes and leather goods saw a stronger 10.6 per cent increase over the same period, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS).

Overall, retail turnover grew by 3.4 per cent in March 2025, with sales volume up 1.0 per cent. Online retail turnover rose 7.0 per cent, driven by a 9.8 per cent increase among online-only retailers and a 2.9 per cent rise for multi-channel retailers.

The figures for retail turnover have been adjusted for calendar days in March, because more is sold on certain days of the week than on other days. Without such an adjustment, retail turnover in March 2025 would have been 1.8 per cent higher than one year previously.
