Seasonally-adjusted US urban apparel CPI up MoM in Feb: BLS

The US consumer price index for all urban consumers (CPI-U) increased by 0.2 per cent on a seasonally-adjusted basis in February this year after rising by 0.5 per cent in January, according to the Bureau of Labour Statistics (BLS).

Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased by 2.8 per cent before seasonal adjustment after rising by 3 per cent over the 12 months ending January.

The energy index rose by 0.2 per cent month on month.

The index for all items less food and energy rose by 0.2 per cent in the month following a 0.4-per cent increase in January, a BLS release said.

Indices of items that increased over the month include household furnishings and apparel.

The all items less food and energy index rose by 3.1 per cent over the last 12 months. The energy index decreased by 0.2 per cent for the 12 months ending February.
