Spain sees decline in general retail trade index in Feb

Spain's seasonally- and calendar-adjusted general RTI at constant prices decreased by 0.3 per cent in February compared to January.
General index showed a decline of 2.6 per cent.
The index for non-food products fell by 3.5 per cent on a monthly basis.
Compared to February of the previous year, the index at constant prices had a variation of 4 per cent.

The monthly variation of Spain’s seasonally- and calendar-adjusted general retail trade index (RTI) at constant prices between February and January this year stood at minus 0.3 per cent—seven-tenths lower than the previous month. The general index, excluding service stations, recorded a monthly decline of 2.6 per cent.

The index for non-food products fell by 3.5 per cent on a monthly basis, official statistics show.

In February, the index at constant prices, once adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, registered a variation of 4 per cent compared with the same month of the previous year. This was 1.5 points lower than the one registered in January.

The seasonally- and calendar-adjusted index, excluding service stations, registered an annual variation of 3.1 per cent in February. The index for non-food products increased by 9.3 per cent.
