Sri Lanka's CPI inflation rises to 2.9% in Dec 2025 from 2.4% in Nov

Sri Lanka’s consumer price index (CPI)-based inflation rate rose to 2.9 per cent in December last year compared to 2.4 per cent in November, according to data released recently by the Department of Census and Statistics.

The year-on-year (YoY) non-food inflation increased to 1.6 per cent in December from 1.5 per cent in November.

The contribution from the non-food group to December’s inflation rate was 0.9 per cent.

The consumer price index for all items for December 2025 was 210.5—an increase of 3.3 points month on month (MoM), a release from the department said.

Core inflation, excluding food, energy and transport groups, for December 2025 increased to 2.6 per cent from 2.2 per cent in November.
