Annual inflation in the EU was 2 per cent in January—down from 2.3 per cent in December. A year earlier, it was 2.8 per cent.
The lowest annual rates were registered in France (0.4 per cent), Denmark (0.6 per cent), Finland and Italy (both 1 per cent), while the highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (8.5 per cent), Slovakia (4.3 per cent) and Estonia (3.8 per cent).
Compared with December 2025, annual inflation fell in 23 member states, remained stable in one and rose in three, an Eurostat release said.
