The increase in inflation was partly due to a less pronounced decline in prices of energy, driven by a base effect on electricity prices which had fallen sharply in February 2025.
The prices of manufactured products is projected to have fallen at a slower pace than in January.
Over a month, consumer prices are expected to have increased by 0.7 per cent in February 2026 after a 0.3-per cent month-on-month (MoM) drop in January.
This rebound in prices should be explained by the rise in services prices, driven by the seasonal rebound in transport services, and by the also seasonal increase in prices of manufactured products, due to the end of clothing and footwear sales, an INSEE release said.
