Birla Cellulose, the pulp and fibre business of India-based Aditya Birla Group, has unveiled plantable tag for its eco-enhanced variant Livaeco. Through the tag, Birla Cellulose wishes to create a positive environment footprint by introducing and engaging consumers with eco-friendly practices right from sourcing to the final degradation of the garment.

Livaeco enhances fluid fashion through the use of 100 per cent sustainable forestry, lowest water consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, fastest bio-degradability and traceability of source. “The goal of Livaeco is to engross customers with end-to-end eco-friendly and sustainable practices to safe guard the future of fashion,” Birla Cellulose said in a statement.

The Livaeco tag is made with a seed paper which is made from recycled biodegradable fibres. The tag can be sown into a planter to get a beautiful plant. For the purpose, the tag needs to be first soaked in water for 5-6 hours. The soaked tag should then by planted under half inch of soil and placed under sunlight. The seeds will sprout in 5-6 days if moisture is ensured, the company mentions on the tag.

“With the current state of the environment, it is essential to focus on sustainability and conscious living at every stage and aspect. Being a part of the eco-system, it is crucial to ensure that corporate companies take steps towards making the average consumer more aware of eco-friendliness and need for incorporating sustainability in daily life,” the statement added.

Liva, a new age fabric from the Aditya Birla Group, is a soft, fluid fabric which falls and drapes well. It is comfortable, soft, natural, and eco-friendly. The brand recently launched the eco-enhanced version of the fabric, called Livaeco, which is made of wood pulp sourced from FSC certified forests. (RKS)
