SGS India offers carbon footprint marks to textile sector

SGS India recently announced the launch of SGS Carbon Footprint Marks in India. The inauguration was commemorated by handing over of the first marks to Armstrong Knitting Mills and Fusion Clothing. As a result of rising consumer awareness reducing carbon footprint has become a key focus area for organizations. SGS has been at the forefront of offering solutions to clients, enabling them to be successful in this endeavor. 
 
For every stage of the carbon footprint initiative, SGS Carbon Footprint mark provides customers with confidence that the product carbon footprint claims have been verified by the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and Certification Company. 
 
Displaying SGS Carbon Footprint mark on their consumer product packaging (Textiles, food products, electronics, toys, packaging and, furniture, etc.) will help organizations improve their reputation and brand image and increase customers’ loyalty in any market around the world.
The First Marks in India were handed over to the recipients at an official ceremony held at Tirupur by Dr. Sudhir Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & Director, CTS & Agriculture Services, SGS India and Mr. D G Reddy, Senior Director, Apparel Export Promotion Council, Ministry of Textiles. Mr. Vivek Anand, MD, Armstrong Knitting Mills and Mr. Shishir Goenka, MD, Fusion Clothing received the Mark on behalf of their organizations.
 
This was followed by a technical session on sustainability and climate change by Mr. Vinod Kumar, Manager, Sustainability services, CTS, SGS India Armstrong - A landmark company in the history of Textiles was created with a visionary Mr. E. Palanisamy from Tirupur who started a textile knitting mill. In the next few decades, the group has grown into a recognized export house with an annual turnover of over 25 million US Dollars. 
 
The success story of the company owes a great deal to the technical qualification and experienced management team led by Mr. E. Palanisamy and his son Mr. Vivekanand. Armstrong’s range of woven and knitted garments have found acceptance all over the world.
