ZDHC adds seven new companies as contributors

Seven new companies have joined the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Programme from Netherlands, in order to support the programme’s vision of widespread implementation of sustainable chemistry and best practices in the textile, leather, and footwear industry and, in order to protect its consumers, workers, and the environment.

Joining the ZDHC Programme, the organisations commit to a strengthened commitment towards better chemical management practices and the adoption and implementation of ZDHC tools. These include, amongst, others the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL) and Wastewater Guidelines.

American & Efird LLC, a leading manufacturer of industrial sewing thread, embroidery thread, and technical textiles, has joined ZDHC. Next is the Brachi Testing Services, the guarantor of quality for the fashion and furnishing industry.

Britacel Silicones, a global supplier of Silicones and auxiliary chemicals, has committed to sustainability. Next to join ZDHC is the Bureau Veritas Group, a global leader in testing, inspection, audit, and certification services for the consumer products marketplace.

Other companies in line include Intertek, a leading total quality assurance provider to industries worldwide, and INT International Group, a worldwide operating company and supplier of innovative textile chemicals with profound process and engineering know-how.

C&A Foundation, the corporate foundation of global retailer C&A, has joined ZDHC as an associate.

With the addition of these seven companies, the total number of contributors to the ZDHC programme is 70, divided into three categories, 23 signatory brands, 33 value chain affiliates, and 14 associates. (GK)
