AATCC to release 2019 Technical Manual

The newest volume of the AATCC Technical Manual will be available beginning January 1, 2019. Each year, the manual includes new test methods, as well as revisions and updates of existing methods and evaluation procedures for textiles. AATCC, headquartered in the US, is the world’s leading not-for-profit association serving textile professionals, since 1921.

There are three new laboratory procedures in AATCC’s 2019 Technical Manual; LP1-2018, Home Laundering: Machine Washing; LP2-2018, Home Laundering: Hand Washing; and LP3-2018, Transfer of Free Permethrin from Textile Surfaces, according to AATCC.

There are 17 revised standards appearing for the first time in the 2019 volume that includes TM20A-2018, Fibre Analysis: Quantitative, TM35-2018, Water Resistance: Rain Test, TM88B-2018, Seam Smoothness in Fabrics after Home Laundering, TM88C-2018, Crease Retention in Fabrics after Home Laundering, TM124-2018, Smoothness Appearance of Fabrics after Home Laundering, TM130-2018, Soil Release: Oily Stain Release Method, TM135-2018, Dimensional Changes of Fabrics after Home Laundering, TM140-2018, Dye and Pigment Migration in a Pad-Dry Process, TM143-2018, Appearance of Apparel and Other Textile End Products after Home Laundering, TM149-2018, Chelation Value of Aminopolycarboxylic Acids and Their Salts: Calcium Oxalate Method, TM150-2018, Dimensional Changes of Garments after Home Laundering, TM161-2018, Color Change of Disperse Dyes Caused by Metals, with and without Chelating Agent, TM168-2018, Chelation Value of Polyaminopolycarboxylic Acids and Their Salts: Copper PAN Method, EP10-2018, Multifiber Adjacent Fabrics, M10-2018, Barré: Visual Assessment Descriptive Terms and Terminology, M11-2018, A Glossary of AATCC Standard Terminology, and M12-2018, AATCC Style Guide for Writing Test Methods.

Those with an online subscription to the AATCC Technical Manual will have access to standards as they are approved for publication and will not need to purchase the supplement separately. AATCC is known worldwide for its test methods and evaluation procedures, particularly those related to chemistry, colourfastness, laundering, moisture management, and water resistance. Each document is reviewed and approved by a committee of industry experts before publication. (GK)
