Asian benzene prices fell on Monday (Jan 5) from lower upstream energy prices and fall in upstream product prices in the region.

Poor downstream demand in the region and fall in prices of downstream products supported the price decline.

In Korea, prices were assessed at US$ 660/ton on Monday, lower by US$ 15/ton as compared to prices at end of last week ending Jan 3.

In Japan, benzene prices were quoted at US$ 665/ton on Jan 5, also down by US$ 15/ton vis-à-vis prices at end of previous week.

In India, prices showed similar downtrend and were assessed at US$ 670/ton on Monday.
