Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED). It aims to bridge the gap between the requirement and availability of skilled workforce and setting up ATDC centre for training at SUC campus at Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) in Gandhinagar.

The MoU will work towards imparting employment-oriented training and encourages entrepreneurship through skill development to the youth. It was signed between Dr Darlie Koshy, DG & CEO, ATDC and Dr RN Prasad, director, CED in the presence of Union minister for textiles, Smriti Irani; Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister, Gujarat; Dr JN Singh, chief secretary, Gujarat; and Anand Kumar, secretary, textiles, at the Textiles India 2017 fair in Gandhinagar on July 1, 2017.

"ATDC Vocational Institutes are a vital part of the skill development system for careers in apparel, fashion and textiles having a pan-India presence. We aim to help the students in learning necessary skills required for a bright future, which will help them in getting jobs or to start their own businesses," said Hari Kapoor, vice chairman, ATDC.

"Signing the MoU strengthens the relationship with the forward looking Gujarat government and helps ATDC to especially focus on imparting the entrepreneurial skills required to create new developments in the apparel industry," said Koshy.

ATDC will be offering short and long-term vocational skill training programmes for the apparel sector at the centre and similarly related courses under various schemes such as Gujarat State Skill Development Mission (GSSDM), CED, MoT (GoI) or PMKVY (NSDC), NULM (ministry of urban development, GoI) etc. ATDC will provide industry-vetted, QP/NSQF aligned curricula, pedagogy, training materials and qualified trainers for conducting the training programmes.

"I am very happy with the facilities and state-of-art infrastructure at ATDC. I am confident that ATDC will offer a platform for skilled manpower in fashion and garment sector especially with a focus on entrepreneurship," said Dr Ram Nath Prasad, director, CED.

The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) is a premier organisation of government of Gujarat, engaged in entrepreneurship development training and skill development since 1979. The concept behind CED is to develop entrepreneurs in the urban as well as rural areas of the state, who can establish their own manufacturing or service enterprise which in turn aids in the economic growth of the state and also creates employment opportunities for others.
