Several textile firms from Belgium have articulated interest in investing in Macedonia, a country located in the central Balkan peninsular region in southeastern Europe, Visar Fida, director of Agency for Foreign Investments, has said.

Speaking on sidelines of a business forum at Belgian Textile Federation in Brussels, Mr. Fida said Macedonian textile industry is eyeing new business destinations in Europe, which would facilitate easier and quicker access to developed markets.

Business forums extend good opportunities to attract overseas firms from developed countries. By way of such forums, these overseas firms get a chance to explore Macedonian market and then take their investment decisions, based on their findings, Macedonian International News Agency quoted Mr. Fida as saying.

During his visit to Brussels, Mr. Fida held meeting with representatives of one of the leading international chemical firm, which has expressed interest in investing in Macedonia.

The main reason behind the Belgian firm’s interest to invest in Macedonia was to get a better access to the Middle East and Turkish markets.
