Catalan firm Mango opens 080 Barcelona Fashion

The Catalan firm Mango kicked off the 14th edition of Catalan fashion fest 080 Barcelona Fashion with its latest Autumn/Winter 2014 line.

Based predominantly on a palette of black, the range was accentuated with vibrant tartan patterns in red, white and green colours.

The standout pieces from the collection were military style oversized high-waist pants, leopard print chiffon skirts, a cross back detailed cocktail dress, some minimalist eveningwear numbers and rocker style leather jackets with metallic studs.

Other than Mango’s show, which saw supermodels like Toni Garrn (Germany) and Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana Lima modelling the clothes on the runway, the opening day of the Spanish fashion do also saw the inauguration of Barcelona Designers Collective, a pop-up store which aims to sell and promote designs from new emerging labels in Catalonia.

The pop-up boutique was inaugurated by American clothing label Marchesa’s designer and co-founder Georgina Chapman in the presence of designer, journalist, writer and fashion critic, Colin McDowell, Rosa Tous (the Corporate Vice President of TOUS), Nuria Basi (President of Armand Basi), model Verónica Blume, Cortana label founder and designer Rosa Esteva, Nuria Mora (the Director of Creative Content 080 BCN Fashion), Daniela Agnelli (the Director of the Telegraph magazine), fashion editor and stylist Kim Hersov and Carlos Santana, the Director of Retail Spain at Value Retail.

Slated to run till July 4, 2014, the coming days of 080 Barcelona Fashion will feature creations from names like designer Sita Murt, TCN, Brain and Beast and Celia Vela.

Founded in 1984, the Barcelona-based Mango operates with a working staff of more than 12,200 people.
