The added capacity for renewable energy power generation accounts for 80 per cent of China’s total newly installed power generation. By June-end, China's cumulative installed capacity for green energy surged to about 1.12 billion Kw — this includes 342 million kW from wind, 336 million kW from solar energy, 39.5 million kW from biomass, and 400 million kW from hydropower, according to Wang Dapeng, an NEA official. The country is making efforts to limit its carbon dioxide emissions and attain carbon neutrality.
Investment in the energy sector during the first half of 2022 rose to 15.9 per cent year-on-year, which comprises the functioning of 10 hydropower stations and pumped-storage hydro projects, the authorisation of six nuclear units, and some ultrahigh voltage direct current projects, as per the Chinese government.
In order to expand the hydrogen refuelling network across the country, more than 270 hydrogen refuelling stations were established by the end of June 2022.
