On May 31, the CC Index328 (China cotton price index) stood at 19,384 Yuan / ton in the year 2011-2012. The 2011-12 cotton production is expected to be 7.19 million tons.
As of mid-May, Chinese cotton importers had signed contracts for importing 1.431 million tons of US cotton in the current season.
Of this, 1.099 million tons has already been shipped into the country.
China's cotton imports stood at 3.75 million tons in April.
