The first edition of Denimsandjeans Japan show to be held from March 4-5, 2020, has been creating a great buzz around the denim community for the last few weeks. Ahead of the first denim supply chain show in Japan, the organisers have released excited expectations of global exhibitors, who are going to be a part of this show, from the Japanese denim market.

“The Japanese market has always been a great inspiration for the denim industry, especially in terms of raw selvedge denim. They (the Japanese) have truly mastered the art of weaving and crafting five-pocket jeans, so it’s natural that many denim brands of excellence come right from Japan.

"And there’s always an artisanal approach before machines are used: the dyeing, the cotton, the way the fabrics and garments are finished. This excellence mostly originates from their attention to detail. Something that is embedded in the Japanese DNA,” said Alice Tonello, marketing and R&D director at Tonello.

“Japanese denim market has been recognised as one of the best in the world for research and tradition. Since long time we are fascinated about the Japanese people's extreme attention to detail, quality and craftsmanship. For us it is a big challenge introducing our Trustainable technologies, to show how they could obtain the same final results, without using pumice stone, PP or chlorine,” said Officina+39 managing director Andrea Venier.

“We know that the Japanese are famous as a Blue Jean Nation & Japan itself is a very rich country in its textile weaving & dyeing traditions dating back in centuries. Considering that our business which caters to the fast retail market we have noticed Japanese fast fashion brands have grown substantially in the past few years. Being an innovative company, we understand the needs of the market, especially the commitment & innovations it requires for fulfilling its future fast fashion needs.

"I believe working for the Japanese market will not only benefit our business turnover, but it will boost our product knowledge and expertise too. The numbers seem promising and we are excited to become the top denim supplier for the Japanese brands,” said Mansoor Bilal, VP-Marketing, Research & Innovation at Soorty.

Speaking on the Japanese market, Armana Group Limited group operations director Sandeep H Golam said, “Armana Group looks at this market very strategically, as this is a growing market, more importantly it is a mature market with a clear understanding of denim and denim related products.

"Through this market we will get to learn and align ourselves closer to the ever-evolving sustainable concepts in the denim world. To our 30 years' experience of apparel manufacturing we will be able to add some salient features which we will pick up by rubbing shoulders with the Japanese denim industry experts, that will further enhance our capabilities too.

"With good relations between Japan and Bangladesh we see a positive growth trend happening in businesses between both countries, coupled with our ability to manufacture a quality product for the big denim market in Japan, we are convinced this is a market which is here to stay.”

HAP (Coveross) owner Moto Suzuki said, “I was born and raised in Japan. Summer is hot and humid, and winter is dry and cold. However, due to global warming, the summer became hot and long, and the declining birthrate and aging became the most serious in the world. In the meantime, custom-made production methods have begun to spread due to technologies such as AI, and the Japanese market has changed greatly.

"The 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held midsummer in Tokyo. Among them, post-consumer circular recycling system began to spread to denim products. In addition, functionalities such as water absorption, quick drying, cooling, antibacterial, deodorant, antifungal, blood circulation promotion, fatigue recovery, and performance improvement are required.

"In a sense, Japanese consumer demand is the most up-to-date and difficult demand. Through consumer demand, our development concept has become 'Sustainability, Comfortable Multifunctionality, Technology'."

The first edition of Denimsandjeans Japan show is expected to fill the cavity by bringing leading denim suppliers and buyers from all around the world on one platform in Tokyo for 2 days i.e, March 4-5.
