Denmark's DFDS acquires Lucey Transport Logistics for Irish expansion

Denmark’s international shipping and logistics company DFDS has acquired 100 per cent of the share capital of Lucey Transport Logistics Ltd, which is based in Dublin, Ireland. With this investment, DFDS aims to further expand and develop its European logistics network. It will also enable DFDS to offer international transport services to Lucey Transport Logistics’ customers.

The business deal is subject to approval by the relevant competition authorities, according to a press release issued by DFDS. “The acquisition of Lucey Transport Logistics greatly enhances our Irish domestic offerings, and complements our existing international solutions. We now offer more comprehensive supply chain solutions in the region underpinned by a network covering the entire island of Ireland,” said Niklas Andersson, executive vice president and head of logistics division.

Lucey Transport Logistics offers logistics solutions that include warehousing, inventory management, bonded storage, and product rework and labelling. The company’s transport and logistics solutions based in Ireland and Northern Ireland, door-door container and trailer solutions between Ireland, the Continent, and the Nordics, as well as a freight ferry route between Ireland and France (Rosslare-Dunkirk) will complement DFDS’ existing activities in the region.

Both the companies are expected to collaborate on aspects such as haulage efficiency and equipment procurement. The transaction will have no material effect on DFD’s outlook for 2022, the company has stated.
