Diversify products to boost textile exports: Bangla PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently urged entrepreneurs to produce diversified textile products to keep pace with competition in global markets. Inaugurating the National Textile Day 2019 and Multipurpose Textile Fair in Dhaka yesterday, she called on the public and private sectors to work together to increase the demand of Bangladeshi products overseas.
Though Bangladesh holds the second position in the world in textile exports, it has only 6.4 per cent share in the world market, she said.
“We have to formulate short, medium and long term plans creating more demands in the world market,” she was quoted as saying by Bangladesh newspapers.
The prime minister handed over awards to nine organisations and business enterprises for their contributions to the development of the textile sector.
