Ethylene markets in Asia & US march northwards

Ethylene prices for CFR Northeast Asia, which have been on a free fall since the previous four weeks, broke the trend and grew by US $10 per metric ton on August 19, when compared with prices prevailing on last Wednesday.

Prices in CFR Northeast Asia grew from $940-941 per metric ton to $949-951 per metric ton on August 19. CFR Southeast prices also rose for the second consecutive week and grew from $1020-1022 per metric ton to $1049-1051 per metric ton.

Ethylene prices in the FD Northwest Europe and CIF Northwest Europe though have continued to maintain stability and have remained steady for the third consecutive week at €770-775 per metric ton and $890-900 per metric ton, respectively.

Prices of ethylene in the US markets which have been climbing since the past three weeks, too continued to do in the fourth week and in the process moved from US cent 25.250-25.500 per pound on Aug 12 to US cent 26.880-27.130 per pound, yesterday.
