The European Commission recently imposed definitive anti-dumping duties (ADD) on imports of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from Egypt and the United States. The measures follow an anti-dumping investigation that showed that dumped imports from these two countries were harming the European Union (EU) PVC industry, which was losing significant market share to such imports.
The investigation also showed that, without such measures, the situation of the bloc’s PVC industry would most likely continue to deteriorate and could lead to plant closures. The EU PVC industry currently directly employs 4,000 people across seven member states.
