BK Style, the groundbreaking non-profit dedicated to emerging design active since 2004, will present its 4th year of collections in September 2011. Under the Foundation's primary showcase, BK Fashion Week{end}, the Spring/ Summer 2012 Collections are scheduled to take place, September 29th to Oct 2nd , 2011. The theme of the S/S 2012 collections will be “Fashion Freedom, celebrating the freedom of style and fashion on a global level.
The event will also honor the outstanding individual Dr Josephine English. One of the first black, female obstetricians/ gynecologists (Dr. English graduated from Hunter College in 1949) and a major advocate for the community and the arts, Dr. English made an indelible mark on the community by founding the Paul Robeson Theater in Fort Greene. Dr. English will be the first recipient of Brooklyn Style MUSE Award, which was developed to recognize Brooklyn- born or based personalities who've made major contributions to fashion, art and entertainment.
BK Style will roll out the VIP carpet for a scintillating mix of glamour, fashion, music and pure style. Celebrities, fashion and retail executives, style icons, and trendsetters will join major national and international media houses to view a sterling crop of emerging designers, some of the world's most promising new talents. This season will be one filled with innovation and excitement.
