Fashion designing and textile students from Academy of Design Forecasting (ADF), Surat took a pledge to ‘conserve and save energy’ and to ‘protect the environment’ during their industrial visit to Zenitex on the occasion of World Energy Conservation Day on December 14. The students named Zenitex CEO Viral Desai as ‘Environmental Crusader’.

Surat based textile dyeing and processing house Zenitex and its CEO Desai are well-known for winning several national and international awards for implementation of ‘energy conservation’ and ‘environment protection’ techniques in their factory.

Students of ADF and also of GD Goenka International School, Surat, who visited Zenitex, were briefed about the various techniques of ‘energy conservation’ and ‘environment protection’ by Desai and his team. The students were fascinated by the techniques and were motivated to such an extent that they took the pledge laid out by ‘Clean India – Green India’ tree plantation campaign by Hearts@work Foundation – a Zenitex Initiative.

“Such an event of so many students undertaking a pledge on a single day to save the environment is one of its kind,” Desai told Fibre2Fashion.

The students of ADF took the pledge one step further, wherein, they also pledged that they will try their best to use eco-friendly fabrics, natural dyes, natural fabrics and eco-friendly packaging in their future professions, and will purchase their professional and personal requirements too from such companies and vendors who use eco-friendly techniques, promote energy conservation and use renewable energy/fuels in their respective businesses.

The students also took the pledge that they will always be a part of ‘Clean India – Green India’ Tree Plantation Campaign, in their possible capacities.

“We hope that this event will have a domino effect on other students too, so that the future generation can take the pledge to save this planet and take us to a ‘Green Future’,” said Desai. (RKS)
