Growers should drive cotton research in Oz's north: CRDC

Cotton growers should drive crop research in Australia’s tropical north, according to Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC) chairman Bruce Finney. Speaking at the Northern Food Futures conference in Darwin recently, he urged growers to raise their crop research concerns instead of only research and development corporations paying attention to it.

Appreciating the geographical challenges of bringing people together from across tropical Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory, Finney said it was still important to form a two-way conversation on research needs, according to a report in Queensland-based newspaper.

CRDC has a 20 year history of investment in northern Australia, with about $7 million invested in over 25 projects. (DS)
