The ministry of finance, Government of India, has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty up to $4.83/kg on flax yarn of below 70 Lea Count (or below 42 Nm) originating in China. The duty will vary depending on the manufacturer and exporter from China. Flax yarn is a 100 per cent linen yarn used in making fabric for kidswear and home textiles.

Flax yarn manufactured by Zhejiang Kingdom Linen Co. Ltd, Jiangsu Jinyuan Flax Co. Ltd, Zhejiang Jinyuan Flax Co. Ltd, Yixing Sunshine Linen Textile Co. Ltd, Zhejiang Axiang Flax Textile Co. Ltd, Zhejiang Golden Eagle Co. Ltd, Zhejiang Golden Eagle Yili Linen Textile Co. Ltd, Hangzhou Sanglu Silk Co. Ltd, Great Eastern Textiles (Tongling) Co. Ltd, Changzhou Meiyuan Flax Textile Co. Ltd, Tung Ga Linen & Cotton (Changzhou) Co. Ltd and other Chinese manufacturers will attract anti-dumping duty, according to Directorate General of Trade Remedies, the designated authority in the commerce department that has made the recommendations.

The petition seeking anti-dumping investigation on ‘flax yarn of below 70 Lea Count (43 Nm)’ from China was filed by Jaya Shree Textiles, a unit of Grasim Industries Limited. (RKS)
