India's WPI inflation eases to 0.13% in September 2025

The annual rate of inflation based on all India wholesale price index (WPI) number is 0.13 per cent (provisional) for the month of September 2025 (over September 2024), compared to 0.52 per cent registered in the previous month, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The month-over-month change in WPI for the month of September stood at (-) 0.19 per cent as compared to August 2025.

“Positive rate of inflation in September 2025 is primarily due to increase in prices of manufacture of food products, other manufacturing, non-food articles, other transport equipment and textiles etc,” the Office of the Economic Adviser, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said.

The official WPI for all commodities (Base: 2011-12 = 100) for September increased to 154.9 from 155.2 in the previous month.

The index for manufactured products (weight 64.23 per cent) increased by 0.21 per cent from 144.9 for the month of August to 145.2 in September. The index for ‘Manufacture of Textiles’ sub-group increased to 138.10 in September from 137.8 in August, while the index for ‘Manufacture of Wearing Apparel’ rose to 156.20 in September from 155.9 in August.

The index for primary articles (weight 22.62 per cent) decreased by 1.05 per cent from 191.0 in August to 189.0 in September, while that for fuel and power (weight 13.15 per cent) decreased by 0.14 per cent from 143.6 in August to 143.4 in September.
